Stupid video. MMA kick scmick! It was a thai roundhouse kick, which is the standard kick of choice for MMA fighters. Rutten is about twice as heavy as the thai guy. It doesn’t take a scientist to predict he’ll deliver more force.
the subjects are not fair
melchor menor is middle weight
bas rutten is heavy weight
kick vs knee….it doesnt matter…its the strongest strike of each persons fighting style.
It’s really funny how theyre comparing knees vs roundhouse kicks….totally different muscle groups and kinetics are utilized in each move. lol….duh!
MMA kick?
these guys are stupid. if bas can kick this hard. i wanna see ernesto hoost kick this dummy.
o i see your comment now, i think you are right
this is stupid, mma kick muay thai kick, first Bas is also a superb kickboxer, second he is bigger, third he is heavyer, and he also looks good(he thinks)
I think the average k1 or muay thai kick is harder than the average mma kick
Bas makes me lol…he rocks
MMA kick?? lol, these idiots who do the show obviously no jack shit about fighting.
and are they actually comparing the Muay Thai guy’s knees to Bas’ kicks??? wtf, two completely different moves. so stupid. they should have had both do the same move.
Just like many other people said here. Everyone used different technique and everyone is an individual. All this proves is that this person was able to do more potential damage with his chosen kick.
Different kicks are used for different reasons and in different situations.
I do appreciate the show, and what they tried to do. I also know that if people who are the throwing the kicks were different, the results wold have been different as well.
lol he better not kick some 1
Bas Rutten For the win !!
bas have self-defense tutorial videos where at most scenarios he will always use “kick in the groin” method.
just imagine kick in the groin with this power?
Master Lee of Nicholls State University was my boxing coach. He was some kind of karate dude. Half my size and hit like a truck.
He said it was “applied physics.”
Some people can just hit like a truck. Regarless of Which martial art, or fighting style (without style)
practiced.
lol i know, mma fighters kick like TaeKwonDoe fighters, but sum kick like muay thai
yeah but my point is there is no such thing called MMA kick.
Bas is actually a 3rd Degree Kyokushin Karate Black Belt and learned to kick like that from training Kyokushin. We use the side step roundhouse kick a lot in Kyokushin though generally its the low kick that’s thrown instead of middle or high but we do throw middle or high using the side step technique. So Bas did not develop that on his own.
Actually if you side step your opponent, kicking from that position is quite possible in a match. Often the low kick is thrown instead of the middle or high kick however. There are some examples of it on YouTube if you search for Kyokushin or Kyokushin Karate.
Bas Rutten is a 3rd Degree Kyokushin Karate Black Belt and learned to kick like that from training Kyokushin, although the Kyokushin & Muay Thai roundhouse kick are both almost identical.
yeah mma is mix of martial arts and that kick is taken from muay thai. and i beleave that these test dont really prove differences between different styles coz all the test are done with different persons.
the biggest difference between this kick and the martial arts kick is that this one was preformed with the dummy placed against an object to compress against wheres the martial arts one was a “free” dummy
“THE MMA KICK”
lol haha im going to start saying mma kick i hope i dont get kicked out of my dojo.
Yeah, plus look how the kick is being executed:
bas is not opposite the dummy, but rather on its side. It’s far easier for him to execute that kick with massive power compared with a regural fighting stance. These conditions can’t happen during a game.
Also remember that this guy has like 60-75 pounds on the muay thai guy and he only got 0.7inch more than him.
Altho from my personnal experience kicks tend to do more than knees and knees are much easier for me to deal with.
